Daily School Report 10/16/14

Dylan

This Mornings ABA therapy session went well. He was able to sort objects into different baskets at least 3 times during the session. We also heard "ball" again today. I was extremely exhausted and under focused so I didn't really check most of what was going on, Dylan has a great therapist and i trust her even half dazed. I know she is doing what needs to be done. Mom was just a zombie on the couch this morning. His in home OT came today as well, played with him on his crash pad and attempted to get him to go up are steep stair but he refused by pulling away. He is scared of our steps, They are the old farm house type, they are difficult even for out other older children to use at times. Still it is important to me that Dylan masters this task as when he gets older he will need to use them as well.

Today at school Dylan did the following according to the daily objectives send home sheet sent by his teacher.
  • Requesting objects with single picture with open handed cue and 1 prompt.
  • Completed fine motor activities, but with lots of prompting.
  • Sat for 5 minutes at group without adult assistance.
 His daily classroom actives were
  • Play skills
  • Gross Motor
  • Fine Motor
  • Snack
  • Morning work
  • Arts and crafts
  • Calendar
  • Other- School store and the the teacher made a note that he picked a Winnie the pooh toy
  • OT
  • Lunch
  • Handwriting Program.
His Teachers comments today were that he didn't enjoy the bus ride today he cried most of the way, ( his bus ride is over an hour and he get antsy)also crying the first few minutes of class but she didn't note anything was used to calm him. So I think Dylan was able to calm himself today without assistance from the swing or any other tool. Once he calm he had a great day otherwise :)

Jasmine

Today Jassy took an AR test in the morning on a Dr. Suess book, Which she seemingly enjoys because she got 100%. I had a talk with her about not just grabbing any book with her reading level on it, that sometimes even the best reader need a book to spike there interests before that can sit down and actually enjoy reading. I told her if she enjoys Dr. Suess to look for his books and it was perfectly fine if she was only reading all his books. As long as she was enjoying it and catching up on some AR points, She is doing an outstanding job.
We had a Long cheer session tonight because she missed last week staying home with head lice. She did 2 sessions today to make up for it and keep her perfect attendance.  It was about 1 and half hours of exercise in one night and I'm proud of her for it. She come out of there looking like a sweaty mess but still had a smile on her face. It must of been all that really awesome cheer gear we got in today, she put it on as soon as her coach handed it over.

Now we are reading another Dr. Suess book and working on spelling before bed.

Another great day for them, making their mama proud
Until next time,

~Jessie
