Daily School Report 01/13/15

Well today and all last night everyone in this house felt a little bit sick. Jasmine, Sofia, and me had upset stomachs. I really hope its not the stomach bug. Whenever we get that in our house it seems like we just pass it from person to person, over and over again. I kept Jasmine home from school because she was still feeling sick in the morning, so was I. Sofia slept almost the entire day and then when she woke up she was eating and seemed to be OK again. Jasmine also seems better too. I feel better but not 100%.

Surprisingly, Dylan was fine. And so he was OK to go to school, I did warn the bus driver that everyone else was feeling ill and so they should watch Dylan to see if he was well. Its sometimes really difficult to know, because of Dylan not talking. Even though I saw no signs that he was, I know when one gets sicks its only a matter of time. So pretty much all day, all us girls just vegged out and napping off and on.

No ABA today.

Today at school Dylan of the following according to the daily objectives send home sheet sent by his teacher.

1-No Response/hand over hand
2-Multiple prompts (Gestural, physical,visual, and/or verbal)
3-No more then 2 verbal prompts
4-Independent

  • 3 Indicate refusal by pushing away non-preferred objects with an appropriate force (set on table instead of throwing....I'm guessing this was his bottle.
  • 3 Request objects with a single picture with open hand cue and 1 prompt
  •  2 Complete fine motor activities
  • 3 Sit for 5 minutes at group without adult assistance
  • 2 Work on age appropriate table activity for 2 minutes
His daily classroom activities were
  • Play skills
  • Gross motor
  • Fine motor
  • Snack
  • Morning work
  • Sensory activity (sand and swing)
  • Calendar
  • Math
  • Lunch
  • Handwriting program
Dylan's teacher left comments today was a great day. Dylan cried once but most of the day went well. It is so exciting......Dylan ate applesauce at lunch. The teacher assistant gave him his blended food and he threw the spoon on the floor. But he did eat all the applesauce with his hands! He tried the main dish ( blended noodle dish) 3 times :) He seems to like his at home vest better then the one they already have at school. However he was already crying when they tried their vest on him. He was crying because someone else was.

I really hope this is something they practice a lot at school. The eating even if Dylan does use his hands, we can shape that later. For some reason Dylan hates silverware, unless its a certain kind then he likes to stim on it. The kind we have at home he will stim on but if we put food on them he throws them on the floor too.

This is honestly one of my main goal for Dylan is to eat and eat daily. Him being able to practice at school means a lot to me. While it is exciting, doing it all by yourself is extremely hard. I cant wait to see how it helps him to be eating around all the other kids his age.

Thanks for stopping by and come back tomorrow for another daily school report.
